If your Acme ProClean V12 won't respond when you press the power button, don't worry — in the vast majority of cases this is a simple issue you can resolve in minutes. Work through this guide in order.
Step 1: Check the Battery Level
The most common reason a cordless vacuum won't turn on is a fully depleted battery.
- Place the vacuum on the charging dock.
- Wait 60 seconds and observe the LED indicator on the handle:
- Pulsing amber: Battery is depleted but charging. Wait 10–15 minutes, then try the power button again.
- No LED at all: The dock may not have power — check the outlet and the dock connection cable.
- Slow red flash: Charging fault — see Step 4 below.
Step 2: Check the Charging Dock Contacts
Even small amounts of dust on the charging contacts can break the electrical connection.
- Remove the vacuum from the dock.
- Inspect the two metal charging pins on the dock and the corresponding port on the vacuum handle.
- Wipe both contact surfaces with a dry cloth to remove dust, debris, or oxidation.
- Reseat the vacuum on the dock firmly — you should feel it settle into the cradle securely.
Step 3: Check for Thermal Cut-Out
The ProClean V12 has a built-in thermal protection system that automatically shuts the motor off if it overheats. This is a safety feature, not a fault. It activates if:
- The vacuum was used for an extended session in Boost mode
- The filter was heavily clogged, restricting airflow and causing motor heat build-up
- The brush bar was jammed, stalling the motor
Resolution:
- Switch off and disconnect from the dock.
- Leave the vacuum in a cool, well-ventilated area for at least 30 minutes.
- While waiting, check the filter and clear any blockages.
- After 30 minutes, attempt to power on normally. The thermal cut-out resets automatically once the motor has cooled.
Step 4: Power Button Reset
In rare cases, the firmware can become unresponsive after a very low battery event. A soft reset clears this:
- With the vacuum on the dock and charging, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
- Release. The LED bar will flash all 5 segments once to indicate a reset.
- Wait 2 minutes, then attempt to power on normally.
Step 5: Test with a Different Outlet
If none of the above resolves the issue, test the dock with a different power outlet. A tripped circuit or faulty outlet can prevent charging entirely, leading the battery to deplete over time even if the dock appears to be working.
When to Contact Support
If the vacuum still won't turn on after completing all steps above, there may be an internal battery or electronics fault. Contact Acme Support with:
- Model name and serial number
- Which steps you've already taken
- What the LED indicator shows (or doesn't show) during charging
Do not attempt to open the main unit or access the battery. The battery compartment is sealed and should only be accessed by authorised Acme service technicians.
