The Acme ProClean V12 features a hygienic, hands-free one-touch bin release system. Knowing how and when to empty the bin keeps suction performance consistent and reduces the risk of dust escaping during emptying.
When to Empty the Bin
Empty the dustbin when debris reaches the MAX fill line — visible through the transparent bin wall on the side of the main unit. Running the vacuum with a full bin:
- Reduces suction significantly as airflow through the cyclone is restricted
- Can cause fine dust to bypass the cyclone and load the HEPA filter faster
- May strain the motor as it works harder to maintain airflow
Best practice: Empty after every cleaning session, regardless of fill level. This takes 5 seconds and ensures you always start the next clean with full suction.
Emptying the Bin: Step by Step
- Switch the vacuum off.
- Carry the main unit to a waste bin or, preferably, hold it directly over a bin liner.
- Hold the vacuum with the base of the dustbin pointing downward over the bin opening.
- Press the red bin release button on the underside of the main unit. The bin base flap will drop open, releasing contents cleanly into the bin below — no contact with debris required.
- If debris clings to the inside of the bin, press and release the button a second time to open and close the flap, dislodging stubborn material.
- Press the flap closed until you hear a firm click. Confirm it is fully sealed before using the vacuum again — an unsealed bin base causes air and dust to escape during operation.
Hygiene Tips
- Empty over a bin liner rather than a hard-sided bin — this dramatically reduces the dust cloud on release.
- For allergy or asthma sufferers, step slightly back from the bin before pressing the release button to avoid inhaling disturbed dust.
- Empty outdoors if you have vacuumed up fine debris such as plaster dust, dried soil, or craft materials.
- Wash your hands after emptying, particularly after vacuuming up biological debris such as pet waste or mould.
Removing the Bin for Washing
For a deeper clean of the bin — recommended every 1–2 months or whenever there is visible residue or odour inside:
- Press the bin release button and rotate the bin body counter-clockwise until it detaches from the main unit.
- Rinse the bin interior under cold or warm water. A small amount of washing-up liquid is acceptable.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry for at least 12 hours before reattaching.
Critical: Never reattach a wet bin. Moisture entering the cyclone and motor housing can cause permanent damage and voids your warranty.
Reattaching the Bin
- Align the bin body with the base of the main unit.
- Rotate clockwise until you feel the bin lock into place with a firm click.
- Gently pull the bin downward — it should not separate without pressing the release button.
