Whether you're storing your Acme ProClean V12 between regular uses or putting it away for an extended period (holidays, seasonal storage, moving house), a few simple steps protect the battery, maintain the machine, and ensure it's ready to perform when you need it next.
Everyday Storage: Using the Wall-Mount Dock
For day-to-day storage, the wall-mount charging dock is the ideal home for your ProClean V12. It keeps the vacuum charged, accessible, and off the floor.
- Mount the dock at a height that allows the vacuum to hang vertically — approximately 1.1 metres from the floor to the dock base works for most users.
- Use the two included screws and wall plugs (in the accessory bag) to fix the dock securely to the wall. Check for pipes and wiring before drilling.
- The dock holds the vacuum main unit, wand, and floor head in one vertical unit. The rear of the dock has two clip slots for accessories.
Tip: Position the dock near a power outlet in a convenient location — a hallway, utility room, or under-stairs cupboard works well.
Battery Storage Guidelines
The ProClean V12 uses a lithium-ion battery. How you store it affects long-term battery health and total lifespan.
- For regular use (daily to weekly): Leave the vacuum on the charging dock. The smart charge circuit prevents overcharging and keeps the battery topped up without degrading cells.
- For short-term storage (1–4 weeks): Leave the vacuum on the dock or charge to full before storing off the dock. Either approach is fine.
- For long-term storage (1 month or more): Charge the battery to approximately 50–60% before storing. A full charge held for months slightly stresses lithium-ion cells; storing at partial charge is gentler.
- Never store with a fully depleted battery. A deeply discharged lithium-ion battery left unattended can fall below the minimum cell voltage and become permanently damaged or unchargeable.
Temperature and Environment
- Store at room temperature — between 10°C and 30°C (50°F–86°F).
- Avoid garages, sheds, or unheated spaces in winter — below 0°C can permanently reduce battery capacity.
- Avoid locations with high humidity or direct sunlight. The plastic housing can warp under prolonged UV exposure.
- Do not store the vacuum lying on its side for extended periods — the filter and dustbin are designed for vertical orientation.
Before Long-Term Storage: Preparation Checklist
- Empty and wash the dustbin — storing with debris inside can lead to odour and mould growth.
- Clean and fully dry the filter — a damp filter left sealed in storage will develop mould. Ensure at least 24 hours of drying time after washing.
- Clean the brush roll — remove all tangled hair and debris. Leaving hair wrapped around the brush roll shaft for extended periods can mat and harden, making it harder to remove later.
- Wipe down the exterior with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Remove any grit or debris from joint connections.
- Charge to 50–60% if storing off the dock for more than a month.
Returning to Use After Storage
- Charge the battery to full before first use (3.5 hours on the dock).
- Run the vacuum for 2–3 minutes in Eco mode before switching to Boost — this allows the motor and battery to reach operating temperature gradually.
- Check all connection points are firmly seated and the filter is dry and correctly installed before use.
